How to prepare Millet Dosa easily?

Dosa is a traditional south Indian dish usually done with urad dal and rice. To increase its health benefits, just replace the rice with Kodo Millet and follow a few important tips suggested in this video. Kodo Millet Dosa makes your day with a perfect beginning.

Equipment

  • 1 Wet grinder Mixer grinder also will work fine
  • 1 Iron tawa Iron pan

Ingredients
  

  • 8 cups Kodo millet
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 2 cups Urad dal
  • 2 tbsp Cold pressed Groundnut Oil
  • 1 tbsp salt

Instructions
 

  • Take 8 cups of Kodo millet and add water and clean it properly
  • Discard the water using tea strainer
  • Add sufficient water and soak it for 3 hours
  • Take 2 cups of urad dal with same measure
  • For 4 cups of Kodo millet, take 1 cup of Urad dal
  • Add 1 tsp of Fenugreek seeds (Methi)
  • Clean this Urad dal and soak the same for 3 hours
  • Take 2 cups of soaked millet, add 4 cups of water and cook like rice
  • Now grind the soaked urad dal in wet grinder. Batter should be very soft
  • Take the batter into a bowl.
  • In the same way, grind the soaked millet also. Chekc in between and add sufficient water if required
  • Now add the cooked millet rice in the grinder and grind well
  • Once the batter becomes soft, take it and mix it wil urad dal batter
  • Mix thouroughyl for uniform blend and keep it for fermentation over night
  • Now the dosa batter is ready
  • This batter is sufficient for 2 days, so take some quantity and keep the remaining batter in refrigerator (don't add salt for the batter to store)
  • Add salt to taste and mix well
  • Take iron tawa and make dosas like normal dosas
  • Tip: If the tawa is new, rub a small onion gently on the pan while heating to get perfect dosas.
  • Pour a small spoon of ground nut oil (cold pressed / wood pressed)
  • Serve with any chutney
